“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.”

— Fred Rogers

Dr. Caroline Jones Redstone, DNP, PMHNP-BC, CNM

I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, meaning that I am a registered nurse who received advanced training in psychiatric care. I began my career in healthcare as a nurse-midwife and completed my psychiatric training with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice. I provide individual mental health care to adults of any sex or gender. I enjoy working with the LGBTQ community and welcome all diversity.

My approach is welcoming and respectful. My practice is trauma-informed and takes from multiple modalities including psychodynamic, supportive, interpersonal, mindfulness-based, and practical collaborative problem-solving.

I provide general psychiatric services and also specialize in reproductive psychiatry, or mental health needs related to pregnancy, postpartum, birth trauma, grief, complicated and high-risk births, infant loss, miscarriage, infertility, adoption, PMDD, menopause, etc. Care may focus on dealing with past experiences or preparing for future experience. Often, symptoms include anxiety, depression, feeling overwhelmed, scary or repetitive thoughts that are unusual for the person, nightmares, panic, sleep issues, bonding issues, and anger or irritability.

What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, and more unashamed conversation.
